In his style, there is always something otherworldly about reality that we are not aware of. The movie “Autopsy” is one such example where the line between the real and surreal is blurred to create an experience like no other.
The movie “Autopsy” was released in 2007, directed by Adam Gierasch and written by Jace Anderson. It is a horror movie that follows a group of strangers who find themselves trapped in a hospital where they soon realize that they are not alone – something sinister lurks in the shadows.
The story begins with a car accident that leaves the main character, Emily Johnson (played by Jessica Lowndes), stranded on the side of the road. She is picked up by a group of strangers who offer her a ride to their destination – an abandoned hospital where they plan to hold an illegal rave party.
As they make their way into the hospital, they soon realize that something isn’t right. The building is eerily quiet, and as they explore its rooms, they uncover grotesque sights: bloody operating tables, jars filled with organs, and strange markings on the walls.

The characters in this movie were well-casted; everyone played their role perfectly. Lowndes brought life to Johnson’s character with her portrayal; she was strong and determined even when everything around her seemed hopeless. The supporting actors, including Robert Patrick, who played the security guard, were also brilliant in their roles.
The movie is far from being perfect. It did not earn rave reviews upon its release; some critics found the story to be unimaginative and predictable. However, it is the cinematography that makes this film achieve magical realism status, the ambiance of the hospital is eerie and unsettling and makes it hard to distinguish between reality and imagination.
