It was a hot summer day when the highly anticipated movie, “Planes: Fire & Rescue”, took flight in cinemas across the nation. Fans of the animated film series were eager to see if this sequel could soar to new heights, or if it would crash and burn like so many other failed sequels before it.
As expected, the storyline of “Planes: Fire & Rescue” picked up where the first movie left off. Our hero Dusty Crophopper, voiced by Dane Cook, is now a successful racer but a faulty gearbox threatens his future in competition. Instead of giving up his dream of racing, Dusty trains to become a firefighter in order to help save Piston Peak National Park from a raging wildfire.
The plot of this movie is not something out of the ordinary for Disney; we have seen similar stories play out in other titles. However, the fact that it is geared towards children makes it an enjoyable experience nonetheless. It’s packed with humor and plenty of exciting moments that will have viewers on the edge of their seats.
Of course, no Disney movie would be complete without lovable characters. The cast features some familiar faces from the first “Planes” movie as well as some new additions such as Julie Bowen who voices Dipper, a spry and spunky water-dropping aircraft who catches Dusty’s eye.
The voice acting was spot on and each character was brought to life through their unique personalities and individual quirks.
